366.jpg) When my husband and I took the Rider's Edge Course, we were just following orders. Being military, we are required to take the Basic Riders Course if we want to ride our motorcycles on a military installation. Also, if we don't take the course and have an accident, we jeopardize our insurance. We had just returned from Afghanistan with our unit and all the classes on post were full. That's when Google lead us to Appleton's Harley Davidson, where the Rider's Edge Courses are offered. We were so excited that we got into the same class together. My husband already has a motorcycle license, but I hadn't been on a bike since I was a teenager.
During class, I learned all about motorcycles: how to operate it, how to be safe, how to ride with others, and most importantly, how to stop! The instructors were amazing. Our class ranged from seasoned riders to absolute beginners. My husband and I fell into both categories. Clutch control and counterbalance are the techniques I find myself using the most. I am developing a callous from gripping the clutch!
After we completed our course, I went straight to the DMV and got my license. We began riding together, and my husband started shopping for a more comfortable motorcycle. I had a Honda Rebel and he liked the feel of the cruising bike better than his sport bike. I quickly outgrew the Rebel and began shopping for my own bike. We were looking at motorcycles down at Appleton's and that's when we met Novella. She was totally awesome at helping us find bikes within our budget that fit our needs.
My husband and I got married on the 4th of July, 2009. Although, we spent our first anniversary in Afghanistan it felt like 2011 was our real first anniversary. Getting Harleys seemed to be an awesome way to celebrate our lives together. We celebrated for a whole week! We made up for our first anniversary and then some. It all seemed to fall into place, just like the day we got married. The 4th of July just happened to be on a Saturday on a 4 day weekend, and we just happened to decide to buy Harleys just before our anniversary. We are truly blessed.

The overall experience was great, but my story really started after taking the riders course. I was one of the riders that didnt pick up the riders skill easily and as designed had to come back. "I broke down 2 time last Friday on my way to Lil Sturgis, Ky. The first was an engine trouble and the second was a flat rear tire. I called JPM Cycles to come and get me to replace my tire and they told me they would come get me but could not change my tire until Saturday. I call your service dept and told them about my day I was having. They told me they would be there in 45 minutes and would hold an employee over to get me back on the road. You have the BEST service dept I have ever delt with. I was not there for more than 30 minutes. They worked as one team to correct my problems and get me back on the road RIDING as Harley Davidson owner do. Thanks to you and your staff for the excellent service I recieved. I will drop back in the next time I pass your direction!

"Everyone working for Appelton made buying my 2007 FXDB so easy. Everyone there took the time to ansewr all of my questions and went out of their way to ensure that I received 100% of their time and attention from the time I walked through the door... well it still hasn't stopped. There was no pressure to buy "Make youself at home sit on the bikes and when you have questions I will answer them." Not only that they stood in line for an hour just to deliver my bike to me on post, for free. No thats what I call good service!

"About 4 pm on the 23rd of October, 2006 I found myself in Appletons to do some browsing with my wife for the "Perfect Bike". While we were looking around I began to conversate with Keith, keep in mind we had no intention of buying a bike we were just "browsing", and before I knew it my wife was doing the paperwork on my first Harley. I have to be honest, everyone in that dealership was so helpful and just generally a pleasure to be around I couldn't resist.
